Medical centres performing mandatory health tests on expatriates are
being swamped with patients after new rules came into effect this year.
Many expatriates are having to queue for hours for the health tests, which are required for residence visas.
There are now only four Disease Prevention and Screening Centres in the emirate permitted to issue the health certificates required to obtain residency visas.Two are in the capital, one behind Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) and the other in Musaffah. The other two are in Al Ain and in Al Gharbia.

Ras Al Khaimah: Police on Saturday seized one tonne of illegal ‘paan’ in what is believed to be the biggest quantity of this illegal substance ever recovered in the emirate’s history.
The RAK Police took the seized stimulant to the municipality office to take necessary legal measures against the culprits and conduct more intensive investigations.
The entire haul was in the process of being sold in the emirate’s local markets.

Municipality, said the stimulant was seized from a truck originally used to transport and distribute food. He said the vehicle belongs to a company with official distribution licenses.
